JOLLY JOSTLE:
Collapsible Seating for Children (8-12 y.os)
Materials: Polypropylene, Metal (MS, Aluminium) | Dimensions: 522 L x 356 B x 353 H mm
I developed a collapsible seating solution for children that emphasises space-saving design and is crafted from sustainable polypropylene. This project allowed me to explore the unique properties of this innovative material while enhancing my understanding of user needs through extensive user studies and material research.
Takeaways
This project allowed me to immerse myself in the design process, enhancing my understanding at each stage. I successfully managed the project from research to execution within the scope of a university assignment, ensuring that every decision was intentional. I explored various forms of collapsibility and learned how to effectively apply them to different furniture designs. Additionally, I gained experience with polypropylene, a material I was previously unfamiliar with, which further developed my understanding of and adaptability to new, sustainable materials.
